Upgrading Your Mobile Phone

Modern mobile phones change rapidly so current models are constantly being superseded for a newer, improved version; it can be very difficult keeping up with all the latest functions that you can't possibly do without. Education is the key to successfully buying or arranging a contract; below are some facts every user should know before upgrading.

Battery life is always an issue and even though they last longer (and are smaller), they have much more to do, so always leaving your phone until it is almost drained of power can cause problems. There is nothing worse than finding out your mobile phone battery is no longer holding a charge for very long as you seem to be recharging it constantly and you will probably need a new one.

Some mobile phones have an automatic back light facility which only comes on when buttons are pressed which saves unnecessary power drain from your battery. If your phone does not have this function, turn the back light off when you are not using the phone or turn down the brightness if this cannot be done. When the phone is operational, it is constantly searching for a signal which is ok when there is good signal strength but if this is lost, it still tries to find a signal using more power and draining the mobile phone battery in the process; the same way that long conversations do. Today's mobile phones have many more functions and if you spend a great deal of time surfing the Internet or listening to music, the battery deplete earlier than it should, possibly just when you need to use to speak to someone.

You will often find that wallpapers, ring tones and images that are downloaded automatically will have a charge even though this is not mentioned at the start so be aware. For parents buying a phone for their child, most companies will now allow them to disable this download function so only the mother or father has control over it via a password feature that the child cannot override.

The two man types of agreements for mobile phone users are pay-per use and a monthly contract which can run for one or two years but which option you decide upon will depend on how often you intend to use it. The process for each contract will differ greatly but arranging a pay-per use contract for a regular phone user is probably not the best option to have financially speaking. Some features like tri-band or quad-band means they can be used in Europe and Asia but these may only be available with phones that are part of a long term agreement so look out for deals that will be of benefit to you.

If you travel as part of your work then ensure that roaming charges are part of the contract you decide on and be careful of those hidden costs that are only noticed after you have signed the agreement. Many contracts come with an insurance warranty for the phone because it is easy to loose or damage a phone that is carried with you everywhere. You will have the assurance that it is replaced should anything untoward happen.

You also want to make sure that the parts and accessories are easily obtained from any regular mobile phone store, even if you purchase the phone from an Internet based company.
